Molecular Biotechnology for Health

Molecular Biotechnology for Health" was a project localised at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University. The project scoped encompasses formation of several, new research laboratories, focused on development/evaluation of new medicinal products, diagnostic techniques and a broad range of other biomedical applications.
The project had been prepared by the Faculty workers (researchers and administrative staff) and was being financed within the Innovative Economy Operational Programme 2007 – 2013, Priority Axis 2; R&D infrastructure.
The Innovative Economy Operational Programme (IE OP) was one of the instruments for the implementation of the National Strategic Reference Framework for the years 2007-2013 (NSRF). The NSRF set out the national framework for intervention within the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Cohesion Fund, as well as the rules for coordination of the EU cohesion policy and respective national, sectoral and regional policies. Furthermore, it defined the mechanism for coordination of the programmes co-financed from the ERDF, the ESF and the Cohesion Fund, programmes co-financed from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), as well as with the use of other financial instruments.
Our application has been ranked on third position among more than 150 projects, and we have been granted 28 197 842,44 PLN (more than 6 500 000 Euro).
Within the project framework, seven new laboratories were founded to enrich and complement our current research infrastructure.
Implementation of this project was of benefit to our scientific staff and integrated research multiple units, to initiate new, interdisciplinary science projects in the future. This project was completed within 3 years (2009-2012).

The Molecular Biology for Health project ended on 31st of December 2012, and therefore we have prepared the folder summarizing the work.
